The Holdsworth Center is a non-profit organization founded and largely funded by Charles Butt, Chairman of H-E-B, a regional retail company.  Our mission is to impact, over time, the quality of K-12 public education for all Texas students by supporting and developing leaders.  We are guided by three core values—Be of Service, Believe in People, and Drive for Excellence & Equity.  Based in Austin, Texas, our campus and programs are being developed in honor of Charles’ mother, Mary Elizabeth Holdsworth Butt, who was an educator, a philanthropist and a lifelong champion for social justice.

Along with working in the capacity of the role, the incumbent will engage alongside Holdsworth staff in leadership development activities and training including but not limited to equity, personal and professional development.

About the Position

The Development Coordinator, reporting to the Development Manager, will play a critical role in supporting our growing development efforts, assisting with creation of grant proposals and reports, supporting special events, and assisting with annual appeals. The Development Coordinator will also play a key role in prospect management and research, supporting the implementation and overseeing our new CRM, Salesforce.

In alignment with strengths and skills, the Development Coordinator will:

  • With the Development Manager, and in partnership with Program and Strategic Initiatives teams, implement and manage new Salesforce CRM.
    • Support the implementation of the development facing portion of Salesforce CRM
    • Become Development team’s CRM ‘superuser’
    • Support development of a Development CRM user’s manual
    • Perform key database functions, including data management, data entry, moves management/proposal calendaring, and reporting.
  • Support Development team and board by identifying and researching foundations, corporations, and individuals for alignment and funding capacity.
    • Using Foundation Directory and other research techniques, research foundations and corporations with alignment to mission
    • Support creating of a grants calendar including prospective funders, proposal/reporting deadlines, contact information, etc.
    • Ensure research is input into database
  • Provide a wide variety of skilled logistical, administrative, clerical, and data management support to ensure all development strategies, tactics, and office functions run smoothly
    • Support creation of annual appeals, special events, and other outreach efforts through creation of quality reports
    • Responsible for accurate and timely processing of donations and creation of acknowledgments in accordance with established standards
    • Support the creation of board documents and Advancement Committee prework
    • Support Development Manager in the creation and maintenance of development calendar (for appeals, communications, and events)
    • Work with finance, communications, strategic initiatives and other departments as needed

Desirable candidates will have a range of prior experience and capabilities to include:

  • 3-5 years of related experience and undergraduate degree preferred
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM platforms (Salesforce a plus), and fundraising platforms
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Excellent project management skills; ability to establish priorities, manage time and meet deadlines
  • Takes initiative, kindly assertive and is a self-starter
  • Experience in a non-profit organization is a plus, but not required
